Luke calls the tune in swim medley Bramcote swimmer Luke Howdle achieved a fantastic result at the recent Open Meet at Ponds Forge International Pool, Sheffield. Luke, aged 12 from Toton, produced an outstanding swim in the 200M individual medley. His time of 2 mins 46.3 secs was well within the Midlands Area Championships qualifying time of 2 mins 48.8 secs. Luke now holds a total of 8 Midlands qualifying times and will next compete in the Midlands Age Group Championships to be held in Coventry next month. A regular member of Bramcote Swimming Club, Luke also swims for the County squad – Nova Centurions. Head Coach Dianne Mann said “We are all delighted for Luke. His dedication and commitment in the pool is now producing some great results. I can see him competing at a national level within a few years.” Asked about his achievements Luke said: “The Bramcote and Nova coaches have helped me a lot. Now my next big target is to achieve a qualifying time for the Nationals.” In a separate development the Bramcote Masters squad of those aged 19 and over achieved several successes at the recent 2007 ASA Midland Masters Championships. Cat Murphy, Tom Wilkison and Sarah Ford all came away with medals for their individual performances. |
