Club Champs, Oct '07
There were some excellent swims this year in every age group and it was good to see so many swimmers taking part. I have been a member of Bramcote for 21 years and have seen 21 years of club champs and coached all the Record Breakers seen on your programs. Matthew Todd and David Langford were two great swimmers but I am sure their records will be broken in the near future because of our now excellent coaching standards.
The change this year from using the main pool to using the splash pool for learner pool champs has worked really well and it was good to see our young swimmers actually enjoying the event. Thanks to John Ashworth, Mary Waby and their Assistant Teachers, the children were all very much prepared for their swims.
Natasha Hofton destroyed the 100M Backstroke record by 2 seconds and winning the 50M Frontcrawl at just 12 years old. Sam Morley is now emerging through as a strong swimmer taking the 50M Freestyle as well as dominating his age group; he will be looking to achieve Midland times at the next Counties.
Dominic Shaw broke the Mens Open 100M Frontcrawl (stood for nearly 10 years) and that for the first time in several years, both the girls and boys open categories had reasonable numbers in them.
I think one of the proudest moment for me was being able to watch my young swimmers tackling the 200 free event. They all turned up ready and keen and all did some remarkable times, far better than I had imagined. Well done to you all.
Thank you to all the voluntary organisers on Swimming Committee who worked so hard months before Club Champs to make it such an exciting and organised event.

Open
Evening, 6th November
Bramcote
Swimming Club is hosting an open evening on Tuesday, 6th November for parents and children interested in learning to swim or improving their
technique in the pool.
The open
evening, at Bramcote Leisure Centre on Derby Road, will give newcomers
an opportunity to meet with coaching staff to find out more about what
the club offers. There will be a brief presentation, plus a question and
answer session followed by a trial in the teaching pool. This will enable
the child to be assessed as to which group they are best suited to.
The Club
is currently looking for swimmers to join its junior swim programme. The
club provides structured swimming lessons to improve technique on front
crawl, breast stroke, backstroke & butterfly from fully qualified
ASA swimming teachers.
Bramcote is a competitive swimming club with its swimmers regularly competing
in Galas, Open Meets & County Championships. All ages are welcome
to attend the Open
Evening, in particular, 9 to 13 year olds to strengthen our competitive
gala squads, as well as pre-masters (16 & 17 year olds) and Masters
swimmers too (18+ years).
To book your
place please ring head coach, Dianne Mann on 0115 9287354 or 0790 8389557
between 4.00pm and 6.00pm. Alternatively email ask@swim-to-win.com
